Turn curiosity into commons

Every artifact here was contributed by someone who cared enough to source it. There is a pathway for exactly who you are.

Citizens & divers

Log what you see

Submit field observations, photos and encounter notes. Your sightings become georeferenced signals that strengthen species and region pages.

  1. 1Open a Field Observation issue on GitHub
  2. 2Add location, date, species and evidence
  3. 3A reviewer links it to the right artifacts
Researchers

Publish an intelligence artifact

Contribute a species page, region briefing, dataset card or research summary. Every claim is cited; you keep authorship and get a Hypercert-eligible impact record.

  1. 1Fork the repo and copy a template
  2. 2Write with sources and a welfare note
  3. 3Open a PR for expert review
Educators

Adapt for the classroom

Everything is CC-BY-4.0. Remix pages into lessons, translate them, or design missions that send students into the field with a clear ethical protocol.

  1. 1Reuse any artifact with attribution
  2. 2Propose an education-audience mission
  3. 3Share back what worked
Engineers

Build the intelligence layer

Improve the schema, the validators, the connectors, or this very website. The commons and its tooling are open source end to end.

  1. 1Browse good-first-issue labels
  2. 2Extend a connector or the schema
  3. 3Ship a PR with tests

The one rule: cite or stay silent

The commons would rather say nothing than say something unsourced. Every factual claim carries a citation, every welfare-sensitive page carries a review, and every contributor is credited. That is what makes this trustworthy enough to build on.
